The Department of Fashion technology & Costume Designing was instigated in the academic year 2019. Our institution stands unique by offering this fascinating program in the locality. The department possesses a very resourceful members of faculty, experts in many areas of the fashion designing, textiles, apparel industries and a well-established placement programme to which the foundation degree would be attached. This programme enriches the creativity of students to become World Class Fashion Designers and provides a platform to become entrepreneurs by establishing their own labels and brands.
Department Mission
To promote Women Entrepreneurs in Textiles and in the Fashion World with an Innovative, and an effect of artistry in accordance with the shifting Scenario.
Programme Objectives (PO)
The objectives of department of Fashion Technology & Costume Designing are:
- To realize the importance of fashion and designing as part of learning about how costumes are part of the whole designing experience
- To become copious in the skills necessary to be a costume designer, including drawing, painting, draping, millinery, dying and proper use of fabric
- To gain a historical knowledge of textiles, Costumes & Trends prevailed.
Programme Educational Outcomes (PEO)
The expected outcomes after completing the program would be:
- To impart rigorous practical knowledge, techniques and skills in the field of textile, fashion design and technology.
- To familiarize students with transnational perspective on fashion design concepts, consumer trends, quality, intelligent wearable technologies through digital tools and smart materials.
- To enable students to develop knowledge on fashion design concepts and pertinent technology elements, thus providing a strong platform for entrepreneurship.
Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)
- Demonstrate strong foundation and in-depth knowledge in all aspects of fashion, apparel and technology.
- Develop keen insights on design and quality apparel products pertaining to sustainability and environment friendliness proactively.
- Visualize, identify and solve the real time problems and compete globally with new technologies, craftsmanship, innovations and strong communication skills.

Lab Facilities
- Garment Construction Laboratory:
- The Garment construction laboratory has a wide range of sewing machineries. It is also equipped with advanced machineries like over lock, flat lock and fashion maker.
- Fashion CAD Laboratory
- The Fashion CAD Laboratory has decided to train the students in enhancing their creativity in fashion designing with the help of various soft wares for pattern making, grading and lay planning.
- Testing Lab
- The evaluation of the different parameters that constitute a good quality yarn or fabric are taught and practised in this lab. The equipment installed here are of the highest quality so that the student is exposed to standard test methods that are prevalent in industry
- Wet Processing Lab
- This lab provides the student with the skills of adding aesthetic value to textile material and develops her/his colour sense. The equipment installed in the lab are the best available and cover the range of chemical finishing lab processes such as scouring, bleaching, dyeing, printing, etc. The student is provided with hands-on practice in all of the chemical processes right from fibre identification up to textile finishing.
