National Service Scheme - NSS
National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi in 1969, as a student youth service Programme its primary objective is to enlarge the personality and character of the students through voluntary community services. ‘Serving the society’ is the primary principle of the NSS. The ideological orientation of the NSS is inspired through the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
The National Service Scheme is a body of student Volunteers under the effective leadership of a Programme officer. Recruitment has been done with the active interest of the students for all the 3 units with the strength of 300 energetic volunteers.
The member of this Scheme should serve at least two years with 120 hours of engagement in the community service in a particular year excluding Annual Camp. After two years of satisfactory service, every student/member would be properly trained to serve and they would be eligible to receive the NSS Certificate, considered equivalent to a diploma in Social Service.
The chief motto of NSS is “NOT ME, BUT YOU”.
This expresses the essence of democratic spirit and upholds the need for selfless service and consideration to understand and lending hand to the other man’s point of view. This scheme functioning to rejuvenate humanity among students’ community.

- To identify the needs and problems of the community by involving themselves in problem-solving process.
- To develop a sense of social responsibility.
- To utilize their Knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and communal problems.
- To develop competence for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
- To acquire skills in mobilizing communal contribution.
- To construct an excellent leadership quality and democratic attitude.
- To develop confidence in tackling the emergencies and disasters.
- To practice National Integration and Social Harmony.
