About The Institution

Bon Secours Arts and Science College for Women affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Trichy is situated at Mannargudi in Thiruvarur District. Women empowerment has been the breath and soul of the Bon Secours Sisters and we strive to achieve this by offering a prominent education which would empower the deprived. The College was established in 2018 by the Bon Secours Congregation, as envisioned by its ancestors 30 years ago to make higher education accessible for the weaker and underprivileged section of the Society.

Bon Secours Congregation was founded in the year 1858 at Pondicherry and now it has spread out its multifarious wings throughout the country and also in the overseas countries such as Italy, France and Germany. The Congregation is one of the first indigenous Congregations in India. Evangelization has been the main apostolate of the congregation in addition to their concern for the poor. The Sisters of the congregation have involved themselves in Health Care, Social Service and Education by targeting in the entire transformation in the lives of the poor especially woman. However, the congregation as a whole believed that the greatest single factor that can incredibly improves the eminence of the women through higher education. This inquisitiveness enthused them to establish Institutions of Higher Education for Women in various places.

As a sequel to our experience, the Congregation have started Bon Secours Arts & Science College for Women in 2018 at Mannargudi campus where the education ministry is being carried out for the past 83 years. This charismatic campus holds with in the same compound a the Higher Secondary School from 6th to 12th std and a Matriculation School from KG to 10th std besides the newly started college. The College was initiated with 5 Programmes during the academic year 2018-19. At present it has been engorged to 13 UG and 4 PG programmes. The college has an impressive infrastructure with a fine facilities such as separate laboratories, supportive library and a guarding hostel. Adequate transport facilities are available for commuting the students even from the distant places.

Exclusive communicative English classes and Computer Classes are conducted to equip the students with the global standards. Plenty of Extension activities such as NSS, YRC, RRC, EXNORA, Rotract etc. and extra-curricular activities are made available to make them empowered women as to acquire glory in diverse activities.

Besides the academic growth, the college focuses on the holistic development of the students. True to the Spirit and Vision of the Congregation, the college provides ample opportunities to the students to enlarge their spiritual and moral growth and also to inculcate their temperament/ personality.
