On 26th June 2024 the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Bon Secours Arts & Science College for Women, in collaboration with the Thiruvarur Police, Mannargudi Division, organised an impactful anti-drug awareness program. Led by Dr. Sr. Victoria, Principal of Bon Secours Arts & Science College, and supported by Mr. Aswanth Anto Arockiyaraj, Deputy Superintendent of Police, this initiative aimed to combat drug abuse through education and community engagement. Neighboring schools, along with their staff and students, actively participated in the event.
The day commenced with an inspiring awareness rally, where students, faculty members, and police personnel marched together through the streets of Mannargudi. Carrying banners and distributing informational leaflets, the participants actively engaged with the community to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction. Students rendered an awareness speech, awareness song and slogans.
Following the rally, a series of enlightening sessions were conducted at Bon Secours Arts & Science College. Dr. Sr. Victoria and Mr. Aswanth Anto Arockiyaraj delivered insightful speeches highlighting the importance of prevention and intervention in the fight against drug abuse. They emphasized the role of education, support networks, and community involvement in creating a drug-free society.
The program also featured interactive workshops and panel discussions, where experts from the police department and academic faculty shared their knowledge and experiences. Topics included recognizing signs of drug abuse, legal implications, rehabilitation options, and ways to support individuals affected by addiction.
