The zealous zoology department was commenced in the academic year 2019 with an objective of imparting practical education and to enable the students to understand the dynamic nature of Life Sciences. The Department comprises of an Enthusiastic students, Committed Teachers and Independent thinkers working and learning together to carve the future generation.
The department is well equipped with an admirable infrastructure and a feasible laboratory that would fulfill the requirement of the University syllabi. The department has brought a new hope for remediation and conservation of the human beings and also in the field of Medicine. The department has opened up a great avenue for higher education and employment for the ensuing generation. Hence it has formulated an effective teaching and learning methodologies and to enhance the Skill development of the students at various inter disciplinary area of life Sciences which would directly contribute to the society there by involving in the various research activities.

Programme Objectives (PO)
The objectives of B.Sc Zoology Programme are
- To provide quality education in a branch of Biological sciences i.e. Zoology with different specializations.
- To provide quality education offering skill based programs and motivate the students for self-employment in applied branches of Zoology
- To Inculcate the spirit of resource conservation and love for nature.
- To conduct field studies and different projects of local and global interests.
- Identify and classify the animals in Animal Kingdom according to Phylum and appropriate distinguishing characteristics of all phyla
- To classify animals with taxonomic keys and appreciate the diversity of Non-chordates and chordates living in diverse habit and habitat.
- To gain a knowledge base for understanding vertebrate anatomy levels of organization and related functions.
- To acquire working skills for collecting, mounting, and preserving insect.
- To provides opportunities for professional and personal development through curricular and co-curricular activities.
Programme Educational Outcomes (PEO)
The expected outcomes after completing the program would be:
- Students gain knowledge and skill in the fundamentals of animal sciences, understands the complex interactions among various living organisms
- Analyse complex interactions among the various animals of different phyla, their distribution and their relationship with the environment
- Apply the knowledge of internal structure of cell, its functions in control of various metabolic functions of organisms.
- Understands the complex evolutionary processes and behaviour of animals
- Understanding of environmental conservation processes and its importance, pollution control and biodiversity and protection of endangered species
- Gain knowledge of Agro based Small Scale industries like sericulture, fish farming, butterfly farming and vermicomposting preparation.
- Understands about various concepts of genetics and its importance in human health
- Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities in delivering his duties
- Apply the knowledge and understanding of Zoology to one’s own life and work
- Develops empathy and love towards the animals
Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)
- Understand the nature and basic concepts of cell biology, genetics, taxonomy, physiology, ecology and applied Zoology
- Analyse the relationships among animals, plants and microbes
- Perform procedures as per laboratory standards in the areas of Taxonomy, Physiology, Ecology, Cell biology, Genetics, Applied Zoology, Clinical science, tools and techniques of Zoology, Toxicology, Entomology, Nematology Sericulture, Biochemistry, Fish biology, Animal biotechnology, Immunology and research methodology
- Understand the applications of biological sciences in Apiculture, Aquaculture, Agriculture and Medicine
- Gains knowledge about research methodologies, effective communication and skills of problem solving methods
- Contributes the knowledge for Nation building

Lab Facilities
Department of zoology has recently been renovated for performing Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Ecology, Bioinformatics experiments. All laboratories are well equipped with the basic facilities required for the students. The labs are equipped with latest equipment. The labs are also equipped with technological teachings aids like an overhead projection and a computer system. All these materials are arranged systematically inside the lab at the easy reach of the students. The department also has a museum which is enriched with a good collection of bottled specimens prepared slides, portraits of scientists coloured bio-visual charts and a full-size model.
